Vacancy: Operations Coordinator

PLEASE NOTE: This vacancy has now closed.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with previous aviation experience to join our team as a part time Operations Coordinator. The postholder will have a wide-ranging role, playing a key part in ensuring a safe and effective flying operation, supporting all elements of the flying operation in accordance with the requirements of the WAACT Air Operators Certificate (AOC).

Location: Semington, Wiltshire

Salary: FTE £25k

Hours: 20 hours per week over 5 days

Contract: Permanent

Closing date: Midnight 14 February 2021

Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust (WAACT) is a charity providing an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for people in Wiltshire and adjacent counties.

SUMMARY & MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Owing to the nature of operations, it must be assumed that the duty crew and key post holders will be unavailable or about to leave the building at a moment's notice.  Therefore, the Operations Coordinator is required to be briefed on all operational matters necessitating internal or external engagement and enable the operational effort to continue during the normal working day. In addition, this post provides a point of continuity for liaison between the charity and operations staff to ensure best mutual support and communication.

In addition to the day-to-day support to the AOC, the Operations Coordinator will be expected to facilitate continuous improvement and development initiatives associated with the AOC. For example, the Operations Coordinator will be involved in the ongoing transition to a more IT/digitally-based operations system and enhanced business continuity.

The very nature of operations is flexible, unpredictable and reactive, therefore the Operations Coordinator will be required to take on additional, often short-notice tasks and use initiative. This will include providing administrative support to the Operations Management Team and, in a limited capacity, deputising for them in their absence.
